Welcome to BASSING-JERSEY

Welcome to my blog. This is not a site for anyone to obtain fishing marks from reading my site. It is for bass anglers who are keen on learning different methods.

It is also aimed at anglers who are not interested in slaughtering fish but return the majority of their fish to fight another day.

I intend to use it as a diary of my fishing trips and some of the marks mentioned in the blog will only mean something to a few readers.

LRF

Met up with the White brothers and a group of others down at the harbour last night and fished La Colette. What a fascinating night seeing the lads using extremely light rods and lures. A number of fish were taken in the darkness.

It will certainly a great method to develop for Bass fishing next year, I think I will pay Mr Fish a visit and see what gear I need. I will not need a reel but a lightweight rod some low breaking strain fluro and braid and some small jig heads and soft plastics

Autumn Silver

Out at Seymour today with Derek on a 31ft force 4 S/W wind started in the usual place and the first drift produced 3 fish all around the 2lb mark. Moved off to the offshore oyster beds where we had a few more fish. Most were being caught on Jersey wonders although Derek had a few on Senko Worms

We moved to the offshore reefs where more fish were caught before moving down to the point although bass were seen on the surface and birds diving we could not catch them well apart from one Derek had one at around 3.5lbs. A total of 20 fish were taken

Another great trip

Well to round the weekend off Derek and I made our way to Karame where I took a fish of around 3lbs on a mother worm Then onto  Shearers run and to the reef further up into the lagoon. This reef has been fishing well just as it uncovers Today we had 7 fish there up to around the 4lb mark. All of these on Jersey wonder lures.

Moving onto the point about 40 minutes before low and took about 4 fish on the first drift the wind was making it very uncomfortable to fish. We took 27 fish over a period of time at the point and further away towards the big eastern rock. Derek had a fish of around 5lbs.

A pleasant Afternoon

a late decision saw us out for the afternoon on a beautiful afternoon. 32 ft tide slight northerly wind I decided that we should try some of the deeper marks and headed off the Demi where Derek had his 10lb fish

Derek was using a senko worm and cast out to hook a fish just over 3lbs. You could see another larger fish following the hooked fish up The next fish hooked was the larger fish taken on a white Jersey Wonder.

the fish weighed in at just over 5lbs I took a fish of just over 4lbs caught at twin peaks caught on a lime green jersey wonder Derek had one further fish of just over 3lbs

Bad weather and few fish

good tides and October should produce plenty of fish So Thursday I took a couple of hours off to go out with Derek.Despite a good forecast wind was southerly 4 with a heavy swell making it hard going even rough . We had 4 fish before giving up. Following day out with Derek at Seymour produced only 8 fish. I had a fish over 3lbs at the Oyster beds whilst there were a few in the Lagoon.

The Bass festival started yesterday with gusting force 7 winds making it difficult to fish. There is a report of a 7lb fish being caught.I have just received my bill for repairing my starter motor on my boat again. I do not know why it needs cleaning so often

Bad start to the day

arriving at La Collette to start a nice day fishing resulted in find that the engine would not start, more money. We then had to make do with our emergency boat or more correctly Derek's. Launching from Millards corner it was not long before I had 2 wrasse around the 2lb Mark. I then took a similar size bass at Micks cross through mark. I took another fish near Icho where I drifted onto rocks previously.

I think we had a total of 6 bass but a lot were small coming from the reef at he end of Green Island Gutter
This afternoon I have been making more lures this time a creamy green colour and  also a nice black one

Another 11 fish on homemade lures

Wel another lovely summer type day with Easterly winds and temperatures up to 23 degrees Fishing mainly around Gannet Gulley resulted in 11 fish for Derek and I caught on white coloured Jersey Wonders weights ranged from 2lbs and 4.5lbs

Due to the fact that these lures seem to be working well I have made some different coloured lures which I intend to try out over the next few weeks.

Despite the forecast of force 4-5 easterly winds the sun shone on us today with a good 38ft tide. Mick ward was following us today but we could not find the big fish we had yesterday. Derek started the day off with a fish of around 2.5lbs and this was the average weight for most of the day.

Hard worms come good

Out today on the south east coast of Jersey not many other boats out as you could hardly blame them with  a choppy sea and heavy drizzle,

However we managed 7 fish , Derek having his only fish on his first cast a fish of around 3lb came to the boat on a swim senko from SH.t gulley, I then took two fish again around 3lb tucked in behind a reef which took my purple redgill just off the entrance to Gannet Gulley. Moving out onto deeper water I cast my 9inch Manns Hard nose with a curly tail up against a rock in about 25ft of water and a 3.5fish came to the boat. This was again followed by another slightly smaller fish which took the same lure.

The second fish on this lure has almost  devoured the lure.

I managed a further 2 fish to round the day off

Two dozen fish today

Yes Out this time at Seymour Jersey very choppy at first before the wind dropped as the tide dropped to extremely low levels.

No double figure fish today. The fishing was patchy but we managed 24 bass between us.A few fish at just over 3lbs more in the 2-3 lb range, and a fair number of smaller fish who were keen to attach themselves to our swim senkos and redgills

Concentration is required and is etched across Derek's face

Fish were caught at the point the reef and the offshore reefs

First Double for Derek

Well big spring tides and Derek Buesnel and I thought we might get a few but the trip started disappointing with two 3lb fish being taken on a redgill and black shad.

We moved onto deeper water where there was a fast current flowing between some rocks. Derek cast out with the famous black shad and bang hsi line took off, luckily his van staal behaved perfectly as line was stripped from his reel. The fish was quick to come to the surface and we could see it was a decent fish. Eventually being netted by an expert skipper. The fish was measured on the Bass tape and my boga grips it came back just over the magical 10lb mark.

The fish was returned back into the water to fight another day. Excuse the photographs but they have been edited to hide the exact location
The fish safely in the net
The first time I have seen Derek smile
We had 2 further fish just under 3lbs

I am not jealous it is nice to see an elderley fisherman like Derek catch a decent fish at last

Bright and Breezy

Force4  blowing up to force 5 N/W made it uncomfortable to say  the least on a falling 34ft however bright and sunny. I was determined to stop Derek beating me. But it was not to be with Derek taking a fish of 5.5 lbs and 4.5lbs at twin peaks with 2 more fish at the western entrance of gannet gulley.

I took one small fish at the lagoon near Rhino rock mostly all caught on redgills
