| Here is my latest safety equipment which I have just purchased from Amazon. It is a personal location Beacon that sends a signal up to satellites and then to a rescue centre.I hope that I will never have to use it but it will be very handy both on the boat and when I fish from the shore. It only takes one accident and you could be wishinging that you had one around your neck. | |||||

Garfish Wrasse and Pollack
Still no bass but signs that summer is coming with the first garfish of the year. The fish caught near the Kaines. I then moved offshore to see if I could pick up some bass on the offshore reefs.
I was using a large sandeel slug and immediately took a number of pollack up to 3ls they were stuffed full of small fish.
I then came back towards portlet and drifted towards Noirmont. I had 5 wrasse all over 3lbs the biggest being 5lbs

No Bass on Derek's return
A beautiful day flat calm and a nice 35ft tide. With Derek back we were out on his boat, travelling to the SEymour area. Despite trying all our known areas we failed to find any bass.
We did however catch a number of pollack both at the point and the reef. I using the sandeel slugs which seem to work extremely well

More Fog and More Pollack
It is like groundhog day for me, the same as last week with the fog descending but this time it was only a 26ft tide. Not a sign of a bass but decided to try the entrance to a gulley as the tide turned onto the ebb.
I was using a 7gram jig head and a soft lure which is fast becoming my favourite a savagegear sandeel slug. This soft plastic is tough and stays on the hook with very little damage.
Fishing in about 35ft of water I looked at my fish finder to see a large number of fish showing up just at the entrance to the gulley.
Just letting the lure sink into the water with hardly any movement resulted in fish after fish all around the 2lb mark, Nothing big but great fun. I think I caught about 25 fish.

fog and pollack
The day started off a bit misty as I headed off in amongst the gutters
on the East Coast of Jersey.I thought I might pick up a stray bass but
that was not to be. I thought I might try out the savagear sandeel slug.
I attached it to a 7gm jig head and arrived at one of my favourite
reefs that was slowly uncovering with a fast ron of tide over it.
I know that any fish are always at one end of the reef so adjusted my drift to pass it . Immediately I began to hit pollack of around the 3.5lb a decent size for about 12foot of water. A lot of the fish seemed to be stuffed with what looked like butterfish or something similar.

Nantes 2012
Having returned from Nantes last week I though I would just give an update of what I saw learnt etc.Certainly the show was not as big as last year and certainly visitors seemed to be less. Having said that it was ineteresting to listen to some of the guys there and also to see the Monster Tackle gang there, buying goods.
What caught my eye were the new castiac eels made for the French market I have bought a couple of packs to try. Also I liked the new sinking z claw which would be handy under certain circumstances.
New hooks are coming on the market which I am told by Ultimate guides as having been very successful last year.
A number of metal lures are coming on the market also ultimate have a weight for getting tiny soft plastics down in deep water to fish for bream etc.
I am sorry there are no photos at present but I will update with more info when I have tested the items. I must say I like the look of the savagegear sandeel slugs which Monster tackle have on sale. I saw them at the show and look like they will be a big hit this season. Cannot wait to try them out.
