Welcome to BASSING-JERSEY

Welcome to my blog. This is not a site for anyone to obtain fishing marks from reading my site. It is for bass anglers who are keen on learning different methods.

It is also aimed at anglers who are not interested in slaughtering fish but return the majority of their fish to fight another day.

I intend to use it as a diary of my fishing trips and some of the marks mentioned in the blog will only mean something to a few readers.

Just a sandeel

Out on a 26ft high tide ,so was not expecting much. I drifted the normal spots up to gannet gulley using a small senko worm. Nothing caught until I hooked a sandeel. Also tried my new jigging rod at various spots including near the demi but not a sign of a bass as yet.

Lobster Magic

Out last night with Callum,Carl and Craig fishing LRF just off the harbour entrance on a 35ft tide. We had tried the castle with no luck.

Plenty of pollack were taken on the drop on tiny xlayers with Callum leading the way. He also had a great lobster which he kindly donated to the skipper.

Pollack and more Pollack

Out today in a chilly force 4 Northeast Wind on a spring tide looking to test some of my toys from Nantes 2011. I rigged up my small black minnow which had been selling like mad at the show. As the tide began to turn I allowed the little lure to drift in the current and slowly drop.Fishing just before the demi as the tide turned.

This accompanied by only the smallest of twitches resulted in over 30 pollack in as many casts before the tide had risen enough. The biggest fish was only about 2.5lbs but excellent fun. Very impressed by the action . Wait till the bass are about.

Nantes 2011

Great show down in Nantes where there were 3 halls of tackle boats etc. I bought a new jigging rod which I intend to use off Noirmont. Also bought soft plastics such as the black widow.
I will definately be going next year just to experience the atmospher and to learn by watching the demonstrations. This year I spent an hour watching an 96 year old demonstrate a lure. The action was all in the wrist

Night time boat trip

I went out last night with Callum and Carl, LRF fishing around the harbour. The tide was ebbing and was about 31 ft, with very little wind. we tried near the harbour with little luck, before moving onto drift either side of the castle breakwater.

I was using mini xlayers along with Callum whilst Carl was using mini metals. We were soon into pollack which ran well on the light gear.

we carried on for a few hours catching numerous fish including a mutiple hook up

A great way to fish during the winter and lessons to be learnt for the summer bass season.

LRF

Met up with the White brothers and a group of others down at the harbour last night and fished La Colette. What a fascinating night seeing the lads using extremely light rods and lures. A number of fish were taken in the darkness.

It will certainly a great method to develop for Bass fishing next year, I think I will pay Mr Fish a visit and see what gear I need. I will not need a reel but a lightweight rod some low breaking strain fluro and braid and some small jig heads and soft plastics
