Welcome to BASSING-JERSEY

Welcome to my blog. This is not a site for anyone to obtain fishing marks from reading my site. It is for bass anglers who are keen on learning different methods.

It is also aimed at anglers who are not interested in slaughtering fish but return the majority of their fish to fight another day.

I intend to use it as a diary of my fishing trips and some of the marks mentioned in the blog will only mean something to a few readers.

Wrasse but no Bass

Out today in a chilly easterly wind looking for bass as I hear that a 14lb fish was caught last week I had a couple of pollack on my Jersey wonders when decided to give my jigging rod a go. Using a white and pink 6 inch shad i was immediately hit by a fish on the controlled drop.

The fish was netted and weighed just over 5lbs on my boga grips. I was also joined by a group of 4 dolphins for about 20 minutes or so.Also lots of whitebait in the harbour.

Just a sandeel

Out on a 26ft high tide ,so was not expecting much. I drifted the normal spots up to gannet gulley using a small senko worm. Nothing caught until I hooked a sandeel. Also tried my new jigging rod at various spots including near the demi but not a sign of a bass as yet.

Lobster Magic

Out last night with Callum,Carl and Craig fishing LRF just off the harbour entrance on a 35ft tide. We had tried the castle with no luck.

Plenty of pollack were taken on the drop on tiny xlayers with Callum leading the way. He also had a great lobster which he kindly donated to the skipper.

Pollack and more Pollack

Out today in a chilly force 4 Northeast Wind on a spring tide looking to test some of my toys from Nantes 2011. I rigged up my small black minnow which had been selling like mad at the show. As the tide began to turn I allowed the little lure to drift in the current and slowly drop.Fishing just before the demi as the tide turned.

This accompanied by only the smallest of twitches resulted in over 30 pollack in as many casts before the tide had risen enough. The biggest fish was only about 2.5lbs but excellent fun. Very impressed by the action . Wait till the bass are about.
